Abriendo Puertas is an after-school tutoring program focused on supporting Hispanic children, from kindergarten to 5th grade, with their school activities and, at the same time, reinforcing their English language skills.
Our main objective with this program is to strengthen the communication and integration skills of our students at school through reading and conversation practices.
Children at Abriendo Puertas can find a safe place to learn the language and culture and effectively integrate into the community.
Currently, our children are taking online classes, however, we maintain face-to-face activities for them every Friday from 4:30 pm:
- Mobile Library
- Music classes
- Photography classes
Our program is made possible by community volunteers and Lenoir Rhyne University students who work with our children every day.
